Parish Outreach Mission
This is a reminder that we will still hold the parish mission in Clintwood, Va. The mission will run from Saturday, August 7, 2010 returning Saturday, August 14, 2010. The cost of the mission will be $250.00 a person for the week.
As we have in the past, parishioners will stay in the Dorothy Baker House and in their parish church. Sr. Jean will have work projects for us to perform.

Parish Outreach Mission
The Parish Outreach Mission which will take place the 7-14 of August 2010
So WHAT are we going to do? A group of us are going to travel to the western part of the state to physically help other very poor human beings. We are talking the kind of poverty that most of us have never seen.
So WHY are we doing this?
1. We are all called to do Christ’s work
2. We want to strengthen our Community. In the coming months, you will hear quite a bit about the State of CTK Strategic Plan. This effort is part of that. We are going to help some of God’s children for sure but we are going to help ourselves even more.
WHO do we need?
We need all of you. Everyone is welcomed and needed. There are at least three ways you can participate:
a. Be on the Prayer Team: We need some folks in the Sanctuary praying for us while we are gone. If you can pray for five minutes, we need you.
b. The Home Team. We will survey the specific jobs a couple of months in advance. If you can’t come but want to physically help, sign up for the home team. We are likely to have projects that we can complete here ahead of time (say wooden steps need to be constructed) and bring the completed project with us. If that is your interest sign up for the home team.
c. Finally, you want to go. To be honest, this is where the most fun is. We are going to have a great time doing the Lord’s work. This is a super opportunity for everyone, especially are youth who are yearning to see faith in action.
We need everyone, all skill levels, not just Tim the Tool Man Taylor. If you want to make the trip, your sheer desire to do the Lord’s work qualifies you. Repeat your sheer desire to do the Lord’s work qualifies you to participate.
All of the HOW questions can be answered in the Commons but I will address one now. It takes $250 to go. That’s bare bones; we need to pay for transportation, food and shelter. It would be unchristian to level that expense on the poor folks we are trying to help. Do not, repeat do not let the $250 “tuition” stop you from making the trip. Drop us an E-mail and we will find a way to work it out.
